Heat exchangers are used to exchange heat between two fluids. Plate heat exchangers are high performance components and provide a high level of efficiency combined with compact dimensions and low weight. Their efficiency reduces the amount of cooling water required for heat transfer which results in low operating costs.

With plate heat exchangers, the heat from the fluid being cooled is transferred to a cooling fluid. The advantage is that they can maintain the fluid temperature at a very low and stable level - depending on the temperature of coolant. Gasketed plate heat exchangers are particularly suitable for large flows and high cooling capacities and are therefore a useful supplement to the brazed plate heat exchangers.

The TPL series is a special development for the demands in mechanical engineering and plant engineering (e.g. for cooling of hydraulic oil and motor oil). The TPL volume of flow gap is up to 80% larger compared to units with conventional heat exchanger plates. The combination of special turbulence sheets inserted in the flow gaps, thermodynamically efficient diagonal media flow, and maximal diameter connections, allows for very high heat transfer rates to be obtained. Variable designs of these elements allow for optimal adaption to different applications. Due to the efficient performance of the FUNKE TPL for media with higher viscosities, the unit can be of a much smaller size compared to conventional plate heat exchangers.
